At SDSU,
Garett never slowed down. He thought it important to
get an education both in an out of the classroom. Chipman
worked at the San Diego Film Commission, scripted &
produced a SDSU Sports Television Show, directed 5 short
films, was a disc Jockey for KPBS for the SDSU campus,
became Associate Producer at a local TV station, and
was 2nd Unit director and Location Manager at Stu Seagul
productions. During this time, Chipman won his first
film award at the Kann (Ca-hann) Film Festival for his
film Descended Delusions. Also, at the Film Commission,
he assisted such movies as K-9, Demolition Man and Loving
Deadly get made in the role of Production Advisor/Consultant.
Garett then
moved into the multimedia entertainment field at IVID,
a cutting edge firm that was pioneering web streaming,
multimedia presentations, and high-end gaming and multimedia
training for companies such as Netscape, FORD Motorcars,
Nissan Automotive and NCAA Football. He started as a
Production Coordinator and then moved into off-line
editing for cd-presentations. He showed unique vision
as an editor and thus was asked to produce and direct
his own projects, including the company's corporate
demo and marketing videos.
Moving to
Los Angeles, in 1998, he has worked the studio route
at RYSHER Entertainment, Sony entertainment and Artist
Management Group. Getting back to production, he directed
and produced 2 commercials for The Band Of Chumash Indians,
2 spec commercials for MasterCard, directed 2 short
films, Never Forgotten and Cutoff and was Director of
Photography for a feature film, She's My Baby. Chipman's
current short film One Door Down is taking the festival
circuit by storm.
Additionally,
Garett is writing a screenplay on the true-life story
of his father's career in the CIA mainly during Vietnam
and Cold War.
